Z: Steel Soldiers: Press Release - 24th August 2000

The EON and the Bitmap Brothers have issued this press release, dated 24th August 2000.

Bitmap Brothers sign eagerly anticipated 'Z2' to EON Digital Entertainment

London, England, 24th August 2000

The Bitmap Brothers today announced the completion of a deal that will see EON Digital Entertainment publish its futuristic wargame, Z2, worldwide. EON was picked to handle the title ahead of a number of candidates after the Bitmap Brothers successfully obtained the return of the all rights to Z2 from publisher GT Interactive.

Z2 is the exciting sequel to the best-selling real-time strategy game Z, complementing a development portfolio that also includes sci-fi sports title, Speedball 2100. Described by PC Zone as "a refreshing burst of originality for the RTS genre" Z2 revisits the futuristic battlescapes and brightly-coloured war-bots of the first title. Z2, however, is not only bigger and better (and in 3D), but the AI is smarter and there are new vehicles to command and weapons of destruction to unleash. Z2 doesn't just promise mechanical mayhem and tactical trickery, it guarantees it.

"We are very pleased to be working with EON," commented Bitmap Brothers MD, Mike Montgomery. "They are a new company, a company with an exciting vision and the ambition to become a global player in the digital entertainment industry. We chose EON to publish Z2 because they have proved to be professional and enthusiastic and understand exactly what we are trying to do with our title."

''Signing with a company with the Bitmap's awesome reputation is very exciting for EON" added John Burns, founder of EON Digital Entertainment, "We see Z2 as one of the best games of 2001 and are looking forward to delivering what promises to be a great, gaming experience for consumers."
